DTU
Client Advisor for DTU – Transformation of Three Campus Areas at the Technical University of Denmark
For a number of years, Schønherr has served as advisor to DTU in relation to the planning and transformation of the university’s three campuses in Lyngby, Ballerup, and Risø. The assignments span widely - from strategic campus plans and analysis to development plans, design guides, project design, and site supervision.
Development of scenarios
A central element of the collaboration has been to create solutions that accommodate the many diverse needs that characterize DTU’s organization.
Based on user engagement analyses and prerequisite reports, Schønherr has developed various scenarios for how the different needs can be met within the projects. These scenarios have served as an effective dialogue tool, strengthening the open collaboration process with DTU. Among other things, they have made it possible to discuss the balance between preserving the character of the campusareas while at the same time ensuring the necessary expansion of facilities and buildings.
The scenarios are qualified through dialogue with parallel projects and development processes. After possible adjustments, the scenarios are consolidated with recommendations for the parallel projects and plans.
Uniting architectural quality, functionality, and strategic goals
Schønherr’s role has been to weave together input and interests across usergroups and campuses, while also ensuring coordination and knowledge sharing. With a holistic approach, Schønherr contributes to ensuring that DTU’s campus development unites architectural quality, functionality, and strategic goals - for the benefit of both the university and its many users.
