Lighthouse at Aarhus Ø stands as a striking architectural landmark, where building volumes and landscape spaces merge into a clear and site-specific whole. The project was developed in close collaboration between client and consultant team, ensuring a sharp architectural strategy focused on contextual anchoring and programmatic coherence.

The 142-meter-high Tower forms the project’s vertical axis and dominant element in the cityscape, where the undulating concrete-and-glass façade creates a dynamic rhythm that reflects the harbour’s movements and the organic forms of the surrounding coastline. The volumes of the buildings are carefully composed in relation to one another and to the existing urban structure, enabling a refined dialogue between city and harbour.

The landscape architecture acts as an amplified extension of the buildings’ architectural character, where terraced slopes, green courtyards, robust materials, and native maritime planting establish a well-defined spatial cohesion. Large in-situ concrete surfaces along the promenade emphasize the area’s industrial heritage and provide an accessible transition to the water.

The communal courtyards are arranged as urban spaces with well-proportioned seating areas, integrated furniture, and activity zones that encourage social interaction and strengthen residents’ sense of place and identity. The public functions along the harbour promenade – restaurants and shops – create a vibrant edge zone that ties city life to the maritime environment and ensures a layered architectural experience in the whole.
